What if machines could talk ?

About this project

OptimData develops an industrial IoT application that is capturing and sharing production knowledge.
We enable manufacturers to equip their machines with an artificial intelligence (“AI”) that gives them a language with multiple applications. OptimData has the ambition to increase production systems’ collective intelligence and to continuously improve their performance.

Designed and developed for industrial experts who want to capitalize on their know-how to offer innovative digital services, the ProductInUse application is also aimed at operators and production managers who want to benefit from a smart and powerful production asset.

Our Proposal

Need: which problem(s) does your proposal solve?

We want to solve the challenges of two kinds of players in the manufacturing industry:

  1. The machine manufacturer (OEM), who wants to remain competitive by selling an intelligent product and more services

  2. The producer of goods using the machine, who wants to improve his production performance.
Approach: how does your project solve the problem(s)?

To tackle these challenges, we want to open a virtuous channel between machine makers and users by making the machine talk.

We will be doing this by building an AI based on machine data and confer this machine with a language. Based on this language, the machine will be able to “speak” with its operators and technicians, in a community accessible via desktop and mobile devices, thus enabling the implementation of IoT-based digital services.

Alternatives: what other alternatives could solve the problem(s)?
Benefits: what are the benefits of your proposal?

For the OEM, customer stickiness is re-established. The connected machine augments the capacity of selling the right service at the right time. ProductInUse participates in the increase of their top line, developing recurrent revenue stream.

For the producer, the objective of increasing the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) is the main achievable objective within a few months. Moreover, several soft returns on investment are making the application highly attractive to the industrial workforce; leveraging the collective intelligence, rewarding users and providing a machine interface with quick adoption are key.

Advantage: what gives your project the competitive edge?

We believe the business model 4.0 is about developing a knowledge economy. OptimData creates the digital continuity between machine makers and machine users by:

  • Assembling a collective intelligence of production called “InUse knowledge” that bridges the gap between the “connected machines” and the “industrial workers”,
  • Packaging and monetizing the knowledge through digital services,
  • Using the Cloud for fast and cost-effective distribution,
  • Designing and publishing an artificial intelligence for machines, in order to include them in the decision process,
  • Leveraging Industrial IoT to adapt digital services to every individual production situation.
Prospective Partners: what might you expect from prospective project partners?

We have worked for over two years, to deliver predictive maintenance and other IoT-based services to industrial companies in France, Germany, Finland and Netherlands.

Several industrial players are already engaged and deploy their application on the market. Our objective now is to continue our technical and commercial developement, always in line with our customers expectations and needs.
