About this project

Aircision is developing a laser-based communication system for connecting 5G cell towers. We use light propagation through the air, without any wire or cable, to transmit data at a high-bandwidth, speed and reliability.

Our Proposal

Need: which problem(s) does your proposal solve?

Fiber optics is often not an economically or technically viable solution for connecting cell towers in the mainstream Telecom networks, while microwave has several limitations such as:

 - requires a governamental license to operate;

 - is afected by interferences;

 - significant trade-off between bandwidth and range (products out there have High bandwidth and short range, or low bandwidth and High range).

5G will require many more cell towers to be installed, in order to provide its promises of latency, bandwidth and coverage.

Approach: how does your project solve the problem(s)?

Optical communication has a much higher potential for achieving High-bandwidth and ranges. The biggest challenge has been its robustness under adverse weather conditions.

Our technology has the potential to overcame those challenges, as it seems to be more robust under those conditions (rain, fog, snow). In addition, it is easy to deploy and provides the bandwidth required for 5G.

Explained before -> economically viability, as it is a High-bandwidth solution that provides higher bandwidth than microwave over the same distances; easy to deploy; High security.

Our protected intellectual property. We can achieve higher system reliability, by having a more robust laser beam.

Prospective Partners: what might you expect from prospective project partners?

Commit to pilots and strongly engage on supporting with market entry. Supply chain and distribution are also important elements.
