Everything started when I received a call from my vocational training advisor about a new project. I am a cooperative student at Nokia hence switching between theoretical phases in the university and practical ones in the company. I was asked if I would like to go to Munich to join a project that has a start-up spirit and focuses on innovative tech. From the project name, “Open Ecosystem Network”, I did not know what to expect, but I love technology and innovations so I was eager to join.
Now I have been part of the project for 4 weeks. And I must admit that I am very impressed by the idea that is driving the project. Since it is working like start-up company, the working attitude is a little different from other projects in a big company. Everyone invests a lot and it is all about getting stuff done no matter how.
What I love about Open Ecosystem Network
A student with a good idea who discovers a problem, or just thinks outside the box, can be as valuable for the community as a big company with years of experience and lots of capital. Together, the two can develop new innovative solutions benefiting from the fresh and unaffected mind of a student or startup company, and from the ability of an experienced company.
Secondly, this environment accelerates time to market. The usual company gatekeepers in business are gone, hence employees can interact directly with each other. Research time for possible suppliers or partners is decreased because you will be able to find them easily through the community, or they can find you. Consequently you can solve problems easier and faster than before with the right mix of expertise and creative freedom.
Also, users can push a project into action and not just discuss about vague ideas, since the community does not only consist of freelancers and start-ups, but also of diversity of experts from established companies. And the community is growing every day. Plus, challenges are solved by finding integrated solutions in a way that several parties benefit from.
In the digital world of today, I consider that this kind of open environment is needed more than ever. New branches products and services are discovered every day. It has become impossible for a person or a company to gain a complete overlook on all the products, fields and services that might offer new use cases. Since Open Ecosystem Network deliberately targets a wide range of users with different backgrounds, new connections will be made that wouldn’t have been discovered without it.
What’s most, this is not just an idea, it already exists!
