Kaustisen seutukunta -organization has received funding for 5G SCOUT project which aims to find cost-effective operating models to utilize new mobile networks (5G, 6G…) in sparsely populated rural area.
We aim to find solutions on following questions:
- How can 5G be utilized in rural environment in cost-effective way?
-
What benefits does 5G offer in rural areas?
-
How 5G’s short range and low level of penetration can be solved?
You may use picture above to find improvisation, but we are looking for new perspective on utilizing new mobile networks in rural areas. The best solution provides novel approach to 5G in rural area.
This challenge provides an opportunity to create solutions those can have global effects concerning utility of 5G in rural environment. Sub region of Kaustinen is great place to test rurally located 5G network since our area has more than 1000 km of optic fibre core network.
