What's your challenge?

We want to change the way people do and watch sports, and we want to hear your creative ideas what the future of sports should look like.

We will bring 5G to Helsinki in 2018. 5G is a journey from 4G to new services, which will be enabled by lightning fast connections, millisecond delay and a hundred times more bandwidth. We are looking for fresh ideas what the services, enabled by 5G, could and should look like. We are for example arranging one of the first 5G Hackathons in the world this summer and now, we want to bring the challenge to you.

Telia has introduced two major co-operations in the field of sports in Finland: On April we introduced "Telia 5G Areena" where we are focusing on how to improve the "sports fan experience" in the field of football. Secondly, we will be the new media partner of Finnish national ice hockey league "Liiga". Telia plays a big role in the field of sports in Finland and therefore we want to challenge you to create new experiences for all of us Finns. At the same time, we get to be at the cutting edge of sports in the world.

What are we looking for?

We want you to come up with an idea which adds value to the world of sports, utilising 5G as an enabler. Your solution should answer to at least one of the following questions:

- How would you improve the sports' TV viewer experience?

- How your personal sport or fitness experience and performance could be enhanced by 5G?

- What role virtual reality could have in sport experience?

- What kind of things would make the customer experience better at the arena (football or ice hockey)?

- Could there be a social media app for watching sports which could make watching even more fun?

We are looking for a Minimum Lovable Product (MLP) to be presented as a plan of a web page or an app (so not the real product), video, demo or a slideshow.

What is MLP? Minimum Lovable Product stands for a solution, which aims to create something that your customers will fall in love with. We want to challenge and inspire you to come up with a solution that truly resonates with the end user.

Skipped marathon? No worries, we are looking for your visions and passion, not your running record.

All solutions will be reviewed by our 5G team, which is responsible for innovating new use cases for 5G. We are always looking for new and fresh ideas and we are eager to see what you come up with!

In case you have any questions regarding the challenge, our 5G enthusiasts are happy to help you!

Who can create a challenge?

  • If you want to publish a challenge on the NokiaPartners - Open communities and get support from the community to solve your problems, you first need to be registered on the platform. Then you need to contact the NokiaPartners - Open communities administrator in the Community section. They will create the challenge for you. Search for “admin” in the Community section, and click on “Nokia Admin” to contact and ask for your challenge to be created.

How do I submit an answer/proposal?

  • To contribute to a challenge, first open the challenge page, and then click on the "start proposal" button on the right-hand-side. A new page will appear with different text fields to fill in and attachments to include. You can also link to an existing project you have previously created on the platform. Once you have finished, click on submit.
  • If you save as draft, your submission will not be completed and will not be submitted to the challenge owner.

What happens once I submit?

  • Once you have submitted your proposal, your ‘Challenge Submission Form’ becomes accessible by the creator or the challenge, who can see and edit your proposal. Through the challenge page, only the owner of the challenge can see the different proposals submitted against his/her challenge. It is up to the challenge owner to inform participants about decisions and potential next steps.
  • To note, when you save a submission as draft, it is not submitted to the challenge owner.

Who can see my proposal?

  • The owner of the challenge, the submission review committee, and the NokiaPartners - Open communities Administrator team are the only ones who can see your proposed ideas and solutions to the challenge.

What happens if my proposal is successful?

  • For each challenge, submission review and selection process is different and the responsibility of the challenge owner. If your project is selected, the owner of the challenge will come back to you with further guidance on the next steps.

What happens if it is unsuccessful?

  • For each challenge, submission review and selection process is different and the responsibility of the challenge owner. If your project is not shortlisted, the owner of the challenge will inform you using the messaging features of NokiaPartners - Open communities. Your proposed ideas will then be removed/deleted from challenge submissions.
