From Goran Cangl, Head of Ecosystem Advocacy, Nokia and Co-founder of Open Ecosystem Network
Today the Open Ecosystem Network, the new hub for open collaboration and innovation, is celebrating its first birthday after the launch of the Beta version last year! The initiative follows the belief that the future of collaboration and co-creation comes from data sharing in an ecosystem approach across industries. We wanted to accelerate development cycle time, and attract brilliant innovations.
This is how the Open Ecosystem Network was born!
At the dawn of the 4th industrial revolution, large corporations such as Nokia must be agile, transform constantly, follow the ever changing technologies, train itself on the hotest tech topics, listen to its customers, share its data and open up to its ecosystem. Today, more than ever, partnership is vital to enter the new digital era.
This is why the Open Ecosystem Network was launched!
The speed matters
The story started a year ago with a bunch of entrepreneurs at Nokia willing to work differently and to engage very openly with suppliers and the entire ecosystem to boost innovation and bring something new to the world at the speed of the Internet. Time is the currency of the future, and in only one year, the Open Ecosystem Network had to prove itself.
Following the exact lifecyle of a start up and managed internally in a very agile mode, the Open Ecosystem Network has already achieved some very concrete results. Designed to share projects, challenges, content, and to embrace a large community of experts from different industries including start ups, develpers and academia, this co-creation environment is starting to deliver according to its promises!
Following the growth hack path, those are the numbers achieved so-far:
- More than 30,000 registered users
- 100 co-creation projects have been started on the hotest topics such as blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, IoT...
- 50 innovation & sourcing challenges have been addressed, leading to 12 currenlty running proof of concepts.
- 30 communities have been launched
Looking ahead the main goal is to identify strategic value-add, for instance using our Open Ecosystem Network for working on software jointly with the customer – creating, sharing, reusing good quality and rigorously tested code, next to further scaling-up the platform.
The more over-arching Communities, the more DevOps collaboration with customers and partners, and the more digitalization of interactions we will see, the more relevant OPEN will become.
If you have not yet joined the Open Ecosystem Network, do it now and join the OPEN movement! There you can share your ideas, propose or find collaborative partners, recommend or contribute to solving innovation challenges, create your own projects or join existing ones.
Remember, today we change tomorrow!
