Smart home for mass market

LI

About this project

CMoo solves the installation issues of smart & IoT devices in residential homes with NO need to change or pull new wires and without battery. We bring to life the wall switch and the bulb and enable them to be smarter.

By better utilization the existing light circuit CMee technology provides constant DC and AC power in the switch and bulb sides, so it is possible to add any IoT technology or other elec circuit into it and still be able to control and monitor it from the local switch and in remote by mobile device.

We make it possible to use the wall switch and mobile device at the same time, no limitations for the user, no matter if the wall switch is at On or Off state. This is a concept shift that fits to OEMs selling products to smart homes.

Our Proposal

Need: which problem(s) does your proposal solve?

Today's smart home products are very expensive or not user friendly. High-end products requires to pull new wires everywhere and therefore remain a niche market. Smart light switches usually need the Neutral wire that does not exist in 50-90% of the installations, so it needs to pull the missing Neutral wire and it cost $50-100 per location. Some other switch vendors claim to work with NO Neutral BUT they can't support LEDs and all other low energy bulbs that recently become so popular. Smart bulbs that can be controlled by mobile phone ask the user to keep the wall switch ON at all times so the switch become useless – this is not acceptable. Thus existing solutions are not user friendly and therefore not taking-off yet.

Approach: how does your project solve the problem(s)?

CMOO is a technology company that develops and sells CMee products for smart home automation. By leveraging only existing wires and without the need for batteries or Ground/Neutral wires, CMee innovative solution enables limitless IoT capabilities on switches and bulbs. The patented technology allows for 1-wire closed circuit and can:

• Source DC power from standard lighting circuit at the switch side

• Provide constant AC & DC power on the load side

• Enable multiple sensors, display, wireless controls, voice activity etc. on the switch and bulb sides

• Maintain the prior operation of the wall switch !

Alternatives: what other alternatives could solve the problem(s)?

The alternative option to get the same results (solving the problem) is by pulling new wires to the switch and bulb. But this cost more money (~$75 per switch) and people don't like the messy work.

In 90% of the cases the Neutral wire does not come to the wall switch and it needs to be solved.

Benefits: what are the benefits of your proposal?

The light switch become general purpose controller and it simply send requests to the end-devices. No more acting as a mechanical switch that really break the power to the bulb and turn On/Off only. Now the switch can be general purpose with touch screen and operating systems to run any off-the shelve App and control the entire house. It can serve as a thermostat, keypad for alarm systems, intercom for external doors, control AV systems, HVAC systems etc.

The bulb become smarter by integrating other functions like smoke detector, maybe 360 Deg camera, Speaker and a like. All these possible because we extract the power on both sides regardless if the light is on or off. Today if the light is off so no power to the bulb and nothing else can work on the bulb side.

Advantage: what gives your project the competitive edge?

We give a "second life" to the existing light circuit in residential homes. Just like the ADSL that utilized the old copper cables and make them ready for internet & voice calls compare to voice call only.

Prospective Partners: what might you expect from prospective project partners?

OEMs that wish to design with our products will buy CMee modules from us. This is our business model - selling the technology / our IP in the form of small HW modules that fits in the switch and bulb.
